If you have Netflix, I strongly recommend giving Nightcrawler a watch. Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing in this film.

I personally give it a 3.5/4 stars, if only because the ending disappointed me a little bit.

Great movie. Loved Jake, but I also really loved Riz Amhed, his partner.

I thought the ending was fine though, but I can see why some were disappointed with it.

I'd give it an 8/10. very powerful, etc, and Jake is great. the ending is okay.

hoping to see The End of the Tour & The Diary of a Teenage Girl sometime in the near future, alongside Altman's Nashville & The Third Man which are screening in the artsy theater 45 minutes from my house. films I've seen this year: only Inside Out & Mad Max so far. I need to pick up the slack ASAP. both of them get 8/10s from me, though.

I saw Ant-Man yesterday 9/10 Started off a bit slow but I was surprised by the quality of the movie. It was funny, but it wasn't just one-liners

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

Another very fun installment, in a silly franchise. This time the plot is actually quite good, it's more the goofy technology that cracked me and my friends up. As always Tom Cruise is awesome. The action is great, and writer/director Chris McQuarrie did a good job on this one.

B+

George Harrison: Living in the Material World

I'm late to the party on this one. It's a two part documentary that Martin Scorsese did for HBO back in 2011 about George Harrison. I always love Scorsese's music related projects. Such as The Last Waltz or his Bob Dylan doc. This is no different. The first part provides a great look at Harrison and his rise to fame with The Beatles. The second part delves into his life after the Beatles, his spirituality and eventually his death. If you're a fan of the Harrison like I am, you'll love it. But even if you aren't, Harrison was incredibly interesting and Scorsese makes a very well crafted and entertaining documentary.
A

I also finished Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. The end of episode 6 made me laugh more than any other TV show this year. I reeaally hope they do another season.

baby bump but

Just saw "The Gift" this afternoon, and I'm very on the fence about it. I can't figure out if I liked it or not... Jason Bateman did a fantastic job as the leading man. Joel Edgarton did too. Hell, Rebecca Hall was good as well... I just, I dunno, was expecting a bit more???

Has anyone else seen it yet? I feel like it'll get better w/ some discussion

the last sequence was definitely effective tho

Straight Outta Compton
7/10
It's a very entertaining movie about the Rise and fall of NWA that runs into the same problems most biopics that span a long period of time do. It can be unfocused at times with a lot of scenes feeling rushed. However this is made up for by a lot of really kick ass scenes, mostly dealing with police or showing the early recording sessions. Also loved the No Vaseline scene, great song. Also I don't think I'm going into spoilers bc it's a true story, but Eazy E finding out he had AIDs had my friend in tears. It was a very emotional scene and was perfectly acted and directed. So yeah.
