There is no way to make him show up. There are a handful of "hot dates" when it seems he has greater odds of appearing (Rob, myself, and others have mentioned a few of these over the years), but that is probably little more than small sample size based luck combined with a smaller total number of Random Event options than normal. Depleting RE's (reloading the end of each week until you get a RE, save, repeat) is the best way to gradually increase the odds of seeing him. But the reality is Dr. Goodjob is rare, and that is compounded by the fact that maybe less than 50% of his "More Powerful" treatments result in success. I know I have had more failures than successes.

What's RE's?

Ham Bone, a random event is the stuff that happens between weeks. For example, being called by Jaws is a random event.

That's not hard to do without a Goodjob.

This is exactly what I want to know. I know that the number of RE remaining affect the probability of Dr. Goodjob appearing, but I still would like to know when those "hot dates" (and I'm not talking about women) are.

This information should have been posted in the wiki a looooooong time ago (kind of hard to find it among the 8280 posts of the 2008 Success Mode forum).

You can do it without getting Dr. Goodjob. I have a backed up save file with a Success Mode Player with very good stats stuck on the 2nd week of August of Year 2 and I have never used Goodjob on him (just a lot of quitting and loading, some saving and still no waxes).

I know that this is off topic, but for those who want to know what I mean by very good, here are his stats (without bats, gloves and spikes):

Primary position: Starting Pitcher; Secondary Position: 1B; Pitching Abilities: 101 TOP SPD, 164 CTRL, 235 STAM, 5 level 4 pitches (ORIG, SNK, CHG, CB, SLD); Blue Pitching Abilities: All of them except Pokerface (I prefer Battler), Intimidator (need to finish game to get) and Gyroball (don't like); Batter Abilities: 3 TRJ, 12 CON, 156 PWR, 13 RUN SPD, 10 ARM STR, 10 FLD, 10 E RES; Blue Fielding Abilities: Stealing 4, Base Running 4; Other Abilities: Starter (which you get at the start of the game), Aggressive Run, Aggressive Fielding, Good Pace, Good Morale, Good Sense.

The actual finished player (with Bats, Spikes, several waxes and a successful "Become Stronger" procedure from Dr. Goodjob) has all of the above plus 105 TOP SPD, 180 CTRL, 255 STAM, Intimidator, 230 PWR, 15 RUN SPD, Durability 4, Consistency 4 (for fielders), Gold Glover, Cannon Arm and is also a LF. Not bad for a pitcher, right?

Dr. Goodjob only helped me maximize a few stats and get one of the blue abilities. Everything else was done with a lot of quitting and loading (I only saved when things went the way I wanted), lots of Surprise Bags (courtesy of Massive's owner), tons of waxes (which I bought with the money I made at Isabella's steak house and by finding Massive several times) and being a better gambler than Pete Rose (thank you Gambler's Ring!).

So, Dr. Goodjob is useless? NO!!! Even if you do what I did, he is extremely valuable because he can help you raise your stats. Right now I want to increase my CTRL to 210, all 3 fielding stats (ARM STR, FLD and E RES) to 12, learn a 2SFB and get it to level 2 if possible. The only way to do that at the stage I'm now is to get him 3 times in a row (all during August of Year 2), but that's probably next to impossible and that's why I'm asking for the "Hot Dates" (might try to do one last maxed out player but it's been 3 years since I started one that I can't remember how to increase my energy level fast).

I call BS on that, you can't get Intimidator and Gyroball in '08.

He said he didn't get Gyroball. I call BS because I just don't believe it. Unless, he took like over 30 hours, in which case taking that long on one player is kinda stupid

He said he got Gyroball, and he didn't like it, and he is gonna get Intimidator at the end of the game.

I'm no good at Success mode.

I never said that I got Gyroball. I mentioned which blue pitching abilities my almost finished success mode player didn't (Pokerface, Intimidator and Gyroball) and that the finished one had the same plus Intimidator. Sorry if my post was confusing.

Well, it the player probably took me more than 30 hours to make him. I started with him about three years ago, and I believe after 7 days of quitting and loading (with several saves in between) I stopped on March or April of Year 2 because I got bored out of my mind. Four weeks ago I decided to finish this little project, and finally finished two weeks ago (spent about an hour daily so I wouldn't quit again).

Am I "kinda stupid" for spending so much time on a player? No, just dedicated to my next project: Demolish or at least break MLB's real life all-time records for wins, ERA, strikeouts and home runs in My Life Mode and see if it's also possible to achieve that and break the hits, RBI and SB records in Season Mode (I made the player a 1B and LF so I could use him while the other pitchers take their turn in the rotation).

By the way, I attached proof of this ultimate player I speak of. I eliminated his name and have not and will not share his password because I think it is egotistical to share a player with one's name.

Going back to the topic. Anyone can tell me about those dates when it is more likely to get Dr. Goodjob to appear?
