Well, it took about 2 hours to get my first player done. He's not amazing, but not shabby.

Success mode is A LOT different than the previous year. Night and Day. Here is what is good and bad. I'm not including anything that would spoil the game.

The good:

You get to see EVERYTHING. Instead of just saying 'becky likes you more', it will say 'Becky Likes you more, +4' or whatever. When you get any stat increases, even after games, it tells you exactly how many points you earn for everything.
More focus on playing in games/etc. You don't sit on the bench for long (at least I didn't).
Focus is on building players more than extra activities if you want.
I like the meter for daily activities. Sometimes you can do 2-3 things in 1 day instead of always 1 action.

The Bad:
As far as I can tell, no more bookworm, money man, etc. At least not that I found the 1st time through.
Balance seems well done - I think they tried to keep you from reloading/etc. You can still do it, but it looks like it will take FOREVER to do something like this.
Things are a little vague. They give you hints, but since it's new - we don't know what everything does yet! (this can be good or bad!). I didn't spend much free time doing anything because I was afraid of not getting stat increases.

I'm off to try MLB life mode with my new character - more thoughts later!

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the hints are pretty much the same as last year's version. in that they didn't tell you much of anything. You kind of find out as you go along. I was kind of expecting that.

It seems to be much more involved than last year's from what people are saying. This may take quite a while to figure it out

Shouldn't be too surprising, vets of the original series seemed to have generally felt that last year's mode we got was a bit lighter than usual.

Not sure if its a blessing or a curse, but my guy got the GR early, had some great results. 95 mph, a stam(170) b control, 6 chg, 7 cb, a a bunch of abilities. The toughest part was the last game against the Galaxy Sharks, until they took Sittch out, then it was a breeze

I did not get any blue abilities other than the Table Setter ability through a random event.

I ended up buying quite a few. They seem to be cheaper than last year's, but I could be mistaken. You get points galore, that's for sure.

I had a really hard time regaining vitality my first time through. I'm also still not sure how you're doing 2-3 things a day as opposed to one action? Am I missing something. I also should have paid more attention to carryover points. /fail. :D

to do more than one action, you need to build up your energy points. your "weekly commands" bar will fill faster if you have more energy, and once the commands bar gets past a certain point, you will be able to do more than one action per turn.

i believe that bar is what they refer to as "carryover" points. it can take a few turns to build up your carryover points to get the extra turn as well. depending on your energy, you might get one or two extra actions per month. less in the beginning and more in the end obviously.

you can also use the "advance schedule" button and your carryover points will carry over (imagine that) to the next week. say, for example, you had enough points for one action. if you skip to the next week, you will have an additional action available for that week (up to 3 max). this is useful for practicing because, if i recall, practicing during the 4th week of any month gives you more points. also, if you want to go to a certain place, the lake for example, but it is not available on the free time menu, you can skip to the next week without losing any actions, and hopefully the lake, or where ever you are trying to get to, will be available then.

Regarding vitality, if you are willing to do some s/l you can sort of ignore it and buy lots of candy at the store. Pop a candy before you practice, and reload if you get hurt.

I probably will do plenty of s/l. There's no rest option is there? Am I missing something? I've been making him eat chinese food for two seasons.

That works, I just proposed the candy option because it doesn't cost you a turn.

and its very cheap, and convenient, so you can save for 3 practices at the end of the month, then use 3 candies for 3 practices.
