So I'm completely new to Power Pros, just bought 2008 for Wii on Sunday after looking for a baseball game and finding some good reviews for Power Pros, and I'm having one heck of a time with Success mode. I've looked through everything I can find and haven't found any help for 2008 success mode, only 2007. I've read through the 2007 stuff and am just not figuring something out. I can't get past AA ball to save my life. I've probably spent about 7 hours (maybe 15 attempts) on Career mode alone and ALWAYS get fired.

I've tried whatever I can think of and just can't get anywhere. Is this really this hard? Maybe I just don't hit well enough? Any advice or places to find advice would be great. This seems like the place for this game...

EDIT: apparently I don't know how BBCode forums work... I posted this in the wrong forum. I didn't notice the other 2008 forums from the front page.

save and reload so you do well on games and get a good scout/coach eval boost. Also, practice when the coach is watching, another easy way to get coach eval.

So I basically just need to save and exit then reload constantly? The games seem to come up fairly randomly. I'll go do something and before I get a chance to save it throws me into a game...

Games take place after Week 4, but before Week 1, of each month, outside a few.

You NEED to raise coach and scout eval. Practice multiple times in a week using carryover points, and practice on practices with the coach icon.

Along with doing what the above posters have said, try saving most of the fun story stuff such as dating around for when you make AAA. Your scout bar carries over from AA to AAA, so you can exceed the "clear" line for AA and give yourself a jumpstart for passing AAA. This also allows you a lot more time to play with the ladies, work, etc.

I will try the things mentioned here tonight: Save often and make sure I have good games, work on practicing first, save up for 4th week and when coach is in practice.

So I shouldn't worry about any of the more story oriented parts until I get the coach and scout meters up to where they need to be.

I like the game so far, I just wish I could manage to get my own player a little beyond double-A ball. The baseball elements are very good. It would be nice if it had online play and auto roster updates. The Cardinals current power hitter (Ludwick) is a nobody in this game by default.

Here's a tip for those who are very close to clearing the Scout meter but have very limited time: There's a scene where the scout comes to see you play, he'll offer you a three choices

Get up to X amount of points
    Only need one at-bat
    Not today

If you take the offer of one at bat and do a very good job (hitter a homer, striking batter out in three pitches) you will get a LOT of scouting points (+10) and it may just put you over the edge. It saved one of my fielders from being fired.

Another tip: Perfume bought from the shop works great for that little extra boost for Coach/Scout. Use perfume, then practice where a coach is available for a good bump.

I guess I'll post my question in this thread so I don't have to make a new one.

What's the best way to recover vitality? I practice until my bar is flashing and then go eat something at the resturaunt, but it never fills my bar up the whole way. Is there one thing that's better to eat?

I believe the highest vitality recovery is the Chinese Lunch Combo which gives 75 vitality maximum. Cost 50 bux.

Most cost effective is the Ducks Spicy Special at the hot dog place, 50-60 vitality for $4

Correction: 50-60 vitality for 3$-4$

Bolded the most common ones.

So you don't have to rest anymore to recover vitality?

Rest is not an option in 2008.
