First log ever, so this'll be fun. Some players have been edited (credit to JP), I will post updated skill set for edited ones Rules: 1) Salary cap limit at 80000 (current rays' payroll is 69775) 1a) Similar to NHL rules as in: trades, signings, etc are DISALLOWED if roster move makes payroll exceeds salary cap 2) Training of players has a few rules to it (below): 2.a) If a player is on the MLB roster they are not allowed to train; the only exception to this is if they are 25 y/o or younger 2.a1) All players can train in AAA unless they are 35 y/o or older 2.a2) If they are 35 y/o or older, and in AAA, they will be placed to learn Spider Catch if a pitcher or Good Reflexes if a batter (useless abilities for their position, so it increases fatigue for them) 2.b) During spring training all players can train until regular season starts (unless 35 y/o or older) 2.c) MLB players between the ages of 25-35 are in the Rest training mode 3) 5-star trades only 4) Trade limit of 3 per regular season 4.a) 1 Trade allowed per off-season (4 total from Nov. 1st through July. 31st of the following year) 5) Offseason FA signing limit at 3 (Increased from 2-->3, EDIT 3/23/20) 6) Regular season FA acquisition limit at 3, before compensation picks (Increased from 2-->3, EDIT 1/28/20) 6a) When a player with arbitration years is unable to be signed by me and is then picked up by another team, I am allowed to sign a rookie gray-bar player for each player i lose. this does not count against the FA signing limit 7) Realistic trade scenarios (rebuilding team getting rid of vets, wanting younger players) 8.) Decline all AI proposed trades 9) No manually playing games 9 Watch game allowed (from manager perspective) 10) Would love to have people RP as player agents (max 5 players controlled) 10.a) Requesting trades, contract negotiation and other actions that seem to fit 11) Observing MLBPP07/IRL rule of after a AAA option, calling up the same player must wait 10 days (unless injury occurs) 12) Not purposely sitting/using/trading players from knowing exploits (jose cruz jr. can have MVP-like seasons with just an average skill set, Beckett is usually terrible even tho he has a decent loadout) . . . Current agents: Agentp - Carl Crawford, Jose Terrero, Jeff Mathis PP27 - Scott Kazmir, Robert Conti, Francisco Jaramillo, Lance Sandberg, Yamato Koga Baseballteen9500 - Tyler Gemoll, Max Scherzer Prediction - (none atm) BrewersFuzz - banned until further notice

News paper headline thing Rays' management have told reports that they expect this team to be "run heavy" as their lineup does not show a huge power threat. Crawford - a FA at the end of the 2008 season - ended up taking 50 bags in 2007, and strides to steal more. Coaches have been working with Ben Zobrist as they wish to deploy him as a new-age utility player being able to cover almost all positions James Shields is able to showcase the shiny new contract he signed during the off season; a 7 year $44 million extension More information has been given that Rays will elect to further develop their star prospect, David Price, for the beginning of the season. Price was last season's 1st overall pick out of Vanderbilt University. A 6'5 left handed pitcher, Price has been clocked at the high 90's (~96-97 MPH). Scouting reports expect Price to become a top of the rotation starter with good deception of his off-speed pitches that can rack up strikeouts. Rays told reporters that their concern at the moment is control along with stretching out his pitch count. Wouldn't be surprising to see Price make a splash during the September call-ups. As for Price's future, the Rays rotation seems pretty grid-locked for the time being, not to mention newcomer Hideo Nomo; this seems to give us reason to believe that there is no rush for Price's debut.

April 7th, 2008 News paper headline thing After struggling through 5 innings, Nomo was struck by a come backer that he attemped to grab with his throwing hand. He was later examined by the medical team which confirmed that Nomo has a broken pinkie finger. Their recovery timetable is about 2.5 weeks. Nomo's night ended after 5.0 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, and 6 K (Win 1-0, 7.20 ERA). Nomo struggled in the first two innings and shut the door for the last 3 before the comebacker. It has also been told that Nomo has been placed on the 10 day IL with the corresponding move of having Chuck James called up. It is not yet known if Hammel will slide into the rotation making James the long reliever. AL East Standings: 1) Yankees...4-2 2) Blue Jays..4-2 3) Rays........4-2 4) Red Sox...2-5 5) Orioles.....1-5 Stats: James Shields... 1 GS, 1-0, 1.13 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 8.0 IP, 8 K Al Reyes... 3 G, 0-0, 1.50 ERA, 0.50 WHIP, 6.0 IP, 4 K Edwin Jackson... 1 GS, 1-0, 1.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 5.2 IP, 3 K Akinori Iwamura... 6 G, 10/23, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 4 R, .435/.500/.696 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Carl Crawford... 6 G, 10/24, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 9 R, 1 SB, .417/.517/.667 Team Leaders: IP.... April 8th, 2008 News Paper Headline Thing The Rays are home for the first time this season up against the Mariners. After losing the series finale against the Yankees, James Shields looks to have a monster outing once more. Some batting order changes have been made: Carlos Pena is hitting a miserable 1/25 (.040 BA) and has been bumped down from 3rd to 7th in the order. Rays are willing to let the slugging first baseman work things out, especially after signing a 3 year $24.125 million contract during this past offseason. Rocco Baldelli is experiencing problems of his own, 2/28 (.071 BA), and has been told he will have a few days off; Gomes will shift into RF. With Baldelli's leg injury history (torn ACL and hamstring issues), it might be best for the Rays to have him rest more often than the regular starting 9. Seems like the Rays still have hope that the once touted #2 overall prospect (Baldelli) is able to turn show signs of that accolade. The super freshman Evan Longoria hasn't held up his own case either. Slashing a .130/.231/.130. On the other side he owns the top fielding DRS at the hot corner

April 15th, 2008 News Paper Headline Thing Edwin Jackson toes the rubber against opener Jonathan Albaladejo and the first place Yankees. Things got off to a rough start for both teams in the first 2 innings. The Rays allowed 6 runs while the Yankees gave up 5. Pena went yard which cut the Yankees' lead down to 1 making the game slightly more interesting. The back end of each team's bullpen was able to slam the door with a combined 7 1/3 IP, 4 Hits, 0 R, 0 BB. The Rays now travel to Minnesota to play the Twins at the HHH Metrodome.

April 25th, 2008 News Paper Headline Thing Nomo threw 2 short bullpen sessions over the past few days and has been cleared for a rehab assignment. We expect Nomo to make 1-2 rehab starts with AAA Durham. Speaking of AAA Durham, David Price is having a respectable season so far: 4 starts, 22 IP, 1-1, 20 K, 3.28 ERA, 1.15 WHIP Chuck James has filled in nicely for Nomo putting up a 2.03 ERA over 2 starts, spanning 13.1 IP. If James should keep up another above average performance, we might expect him to have a more permanent hold on a starting spot. We predict either Sonnanstine or Garza being bummed out into a long relief role or being outrighted to AAA when Nomo returns causing there to be an odd-person out.

April 27th, 2008 News Paper Headline Thing The Rays looks to wrap a home series up against the Red Sox. Chuck James faces off against Clay Buchholz. Carlos Pena and Dioner Navarro (rest) were both taken out of the lineup. Carlos Pena has still been way below average only producing a small .133 BA in April. Ben Zobrist takes over 1st Base duties while Shawn Riggans calls the pitches. Zobrist cranked one into the right fields stands in the bottom of the 2nd. Traveled 403 feet for his 1st home run of the season. In the bottom of the 5th, Zobrist went yard for the second time of the game pulling it to right field again extending the lead to 6-0; 383 feet. The Rays blew the Red Sox away 9-1. James was nothing short of great spinning 7 shutout innings with 4 hits allowed and 6 K's. The only blemish in the score was when Trever Miller came in at the 9th and allowed a string of hits to allow the Red Sox to remove their goose egg. Zobrist may have just earned his way into the starting lineup with a 2 HR game. Wouldn't be surprising to see Pena grab some pine for a while and just show up as a pinch hitter for the most part.
