Well, it's the ignagural season for the Kofu Eagles who are joining the AL West division. They look to have a shot to finish from anywhere from 3rd-5th place. It's going to be tough to win games here, with the lack of talent.

Opening Day
Kofu Eagles at Oakland Athletics
Starting for the Eagles was Vince Mason facing the A's ace Rich Harden. It started out great for the Eagles, the game was 1-1 going into the 5th inning when the A's tacked on another run. Our run was off a David Stenson Home Run in the first inning. Mason left the game after the 6th inning giving up 2 runs 8 hits and 3 K's. Lou Dimsdale was brought in to replace him, he gave up two hits and then made a mental error and then next this you know the bases are loaded with no outs. Here comes the Big Hurt, Frank Thomas, Dimsdale threw him a fastball and missed his spot and Thomas rounded the bases with a Grand Slam. After that Dimsdale was immediately pulled for Morton Young. Young shut out the A's for the last two innings. The Eagles couldn't come back from this deficit only getting two hits after the 7th inning disaster.

Later, after the game the Eagles manager, Wright, was asked some questions in a press conference.
......"Did you take anything good away from this game today," asked the reporter.
......Wright replied, "There was some promise shown in this game, with Ogden, Stevenson, and Trent each getting two hits. Mason also had a good performance only letting up 2 runs, but we'd like to see him go deeper into games. Morton Young also showed he could shut down the opposition."
......"After Dimsdale's poor preformnce today, what do you plan on doing with him?" the reporter asked.
......"Well, he was the last pitcher to make the roster, so you could see him in the minors if he doesn't preform enough, but I plan on giving him a bit more time to adjust to Major League hitters in hopes that he will get it together" Manager Wright replied.

A few baseball analyst's questioned if it was the right thing to talk about possibly demoting the young pitcher after just one game, they said it could lower his confidence, but it seemed Wright was just trying to light a fire under his butt.

Kofu Eagles get first win in History!

Box Score:R...H...E
Eagles......2...9...0
Athletics...0...9...0

The Kofu Eagles defeated the Oakland Athletics today to earn their first win in history. With the win they improve to 1-1. The heros of today were Danny Denver and Barry Jennings. Denver pitched a complete game shutout with 2 K's, and showed shades of his old self today. It didn't look good for either teams hitting today, both teams were scattering their hits and couldn't produce the runs they needed. That was, until the 9th inning. It looked like it would end up going into overtime, but the top of the order was up for the Eagles. Quest and Sanchez go down quickly. Stenson comes up hacking right out of the box, and gets to 0-2 and decides to try to just get a hit because he knows Jennings can change the game with one swing of the bat. That's just what he did, with Stenson getting a single to right field, Jennins comes up hacking right away and gets a mistake pitch right down the middle and hits it 406 feet just over the Center Field wall to put his team ahead. Danny Denver came back out to pitch the last inning and shut the A's down 1,2,3 to earn his first win in years and the Eagles first win in history. Joe Blanton pitched outstanding until the homerun today, giving up just those 2 runs over 8 2/3rds inning.

In an interview with Danny Denver, he had this to say...
....."I was just absolutely pumped to come out here today and get the opprotunity to pitch again. I was just hitting my spots and luckily they would just hit it right to a fielder almost everytime. I think we have a real shot at contending this year if we can keep playing like this."

Jennings was asked how it felt to hit that homerun...
....."It was the most amazing feeling ever, at first I wasn't sure if it would clear the fence but when it did I got so excited. It's great to be part of this, and being our first win in history just makes it even more special."

Manager Wright had this to say about the game...
....."I'm very happy for this organization and the players with this win. Obviously it was amazing since this was my first win ever as a manager but we still have to stay focused on the rest of the season and stay dedicated. Hopefully we can bring this energy to each and every game, and if we do we put ourselves in a great position to win."

Jim Cork injured
In only the 4th game of the year there has already been a big injury. The 42 year old felt elbow pain after his last pitch in the 6th inning. He was going to be facing his last batter either way, but if only they took him out before that batter. He was placed on the 15 day disabled list and looks to miss about 2 and a half weeks. Lou Ritter was called up to replace Cork in the rotation. It was definitely a suprise to this young kid, and he was very excited about it.
....."It's bad that it had to come at the expense of Jim, because he has helped me become the pitcher I am this off season, mentoring me and all. I am very excited to get a shot at the bigs though, I hope I can stick around after he comes back, even if it means going to the pen." Ritter stated.

Jim Corks thoughts on this...
....."It's a common thing for pitchers, if you are overpitched these things can happen. I was suprised that it happened this early in the season. It's not a major thing, and I don't think it will nag me the whole season. At this old age, it's hard for me to pitch deep into game, when I get back from the DL I think we'll adjust to this so I can avoid these injuries."

Raul Sanchez was also hurt in the game diving for a ball up the middle. He said he was reay to keep playing and the trainer said he looked fine, ut he was taken out for precautionary measures. Frank Messenger replaced him at SS, going 0-3 the rest of the game.

....."We didn't want to risk Raul's health this early in the season, especially since he has a very bright future ahead of him and looks to be a big part of this franchise for a while to come. He should be fine and ready to go for tomorrows game, we just wanted to give him some rest." Wright stated.

Sanchez struggled in his first 3 games going 2-12, but hit a first inning double to knock in Quest that just barely missed being a Homerun.

Great job though.
I thought I was the only person who
A. did an expansion team
B. put it in Japan.

Lol, well he didn't have a great day that day, giving up 4 runs in 6 innings. I wanted a good name for the team, so I thought outside the box(well outside the US) and decided to put it in Japan. So you're definitely not the olny one, and thanks for following.

Ritter Impresses in Deut

Ritter's first start was puches up a couple days due to Danny Denver not being fully ready for his start. Lou Ritter dominated the Oakland Athletics in his first game as a professional. He pitched a complete game, only letting up one run and striking out a few batters. He did get into trouble a couple times throughout the game, including the last inning but somehow got out of them. The manager thought about taking him out in the last inning with one out because men were on at first and second, but decided to leave him in because of how good he's done with men on base. He ended up striking out the final batter to get his first major league win.

Lou Ritter on his completre game win
....."Wow, I never thought I would come out here and pitch a complete game my first MLB game. I guess it was just the adrenaline that kept me going, I just felt like I could get anyone out that stepped in the box. I hope the manager and coaches look back at this when Cork comes and maybe I'll stay here longer than expected."

Manager Wright's comments on this game
....."It was great to see this kid go out here and dominate like this. He's definitely making a case to stay up here when Cork comes back, but that means someone will have go and we're not sure who that would be yet."

Denver and Parrish dissapoint

On back to back days Danny Denver and Antwan Parrish get rocked in their starts. Denver gave up 7 runs in 6 IP, and Parrish gave up 6 runs in 6 IP. Lou Dimsdale also once again had a dissapointing outing, he was put in a non pressure situation replacing Denver and let 2 inherited runners score and let 2 more runs score after that. It seems like it's a matter of time when Dimsdale gets sent to the minors. There was a bright spot in this though, Morton Young once again dominated and it looks like he'll go from being the Long Reliever to being a main middle reliever.

The Eagles are currently 5-4 tied with the Angels for 1st place in the AL West. It's a suprise that the Eagles are in first place, but it probably has to do with facing the underpowered A's 6 times in their first 9 games.

Just a note, I changed all the CPU levels to Powerful and put it on fast speed pitch because it was getting way too easy to win. I hope that this doesn't eventually get too easy but I'm afraid it will because I always end up getting really good at a level after playing on it for about 10-15 games so I hope it stays competetive the whole season.

Unfortunitely, I've lost interest in this game. I'm pretty sure it's because it's way to easy, and the cure for that is wait a while and then play it again and it will be a challenge until I get used toit again. It's very dissapointing that this happened since I spent all that time in success mode making these players, if only the game was more challenging. I'll probably ressurect this season when I come back to this game, but until then this will be on hold. Sorry guys.
