Post subject:  pitchers

hey guys. im not a huge baseball fan but i love this game.
i currently have a team that i created of all my friends in it.

i have 4 starting pitchers, 4 relievers, and 1 closer.
they all have at least C+ stamina and C+ control.

the problem i am having is that they are all tired and cannot play through a rotation and etc.

i then had to make another starter and reliever to make a total of 5 each.

just wondering what is a good number of pitchers i should have on my team and when i should take them out. when they huff and puff is that too late?

You should have a 6/7 man rotation if you are going to use people with C stamina. I advise you make characters with at lest B stamina and you a 6 man rotation.

Personally, I think you can never have too many pitchers on your team.

Over the course of a long season, guys are going to get worn out, injured, or might end up being less effective than you thought. If that's the case, you're going to need other players to step up in their place--especially once the trade deadline has passed and you no longer have the option to make a trade to add another player.

Personally, I have at least 20 pitchers on my 40 man roster (made up of around 8-9 starters, 2 long relievers, 4 lefty relievers, 2 closers, and 4-6 middle relievers or setup men) at any one time. While you could say this is overkill, I always have a lot of options throughout the year and can afford to let guys rest extra time and play only those players in the best physical condition.

Two nice things about MLB Power Pros:

1) You can swap players between your 25 and 40 man roster as much as you like, with no penalty, throughout the season (until 8/31--when playoff rosters are set at 25 men). So, there's no reason not to keep extra players on your roster.

2) Because there are so many pitchers in the MLB at any one time, a lot of good relievers (Rudy Seanez, Jonathon Papelbon, Brian Moehler, etc.) and starters (Andrew Miller, Jon Lester, Chris Sampson, etc.) can be acquired for at next to nothing. The next time you make a trade, tack on a couple of low priced relievers with decent stats and the computer will usually give them to you for free. It's a really easy way to build up a nice bullpen/rotation without spending a lot of points or payroll.
