HUDSON TRADED, ECKSTEIN RECEIVED
The second blockbuster trade (possibly the third) of the season is also a Phoenix deal, though this trade is quite possibly the greatest trade of the decade.

Astros get:
Orlando Hudson
Marlon Anderson
Hiroki Kuroda

Phoenix get:
David Eckstein
Alfonso Soriano
Micah Owings
$70,000 (7000 points)

This deal, while it may add too many good players onto Phoenix's roster (Where's everybody going to go?), is regarded as highway robbery from an average Astros team (21-19).

Eckstein, now leading off, got a single in his first at-bat, then promptly stole second.
Alfonso Soriano, after hitting a foul ball HR on the first pitch, hits a fair ball HR on the second, scoring himself and Eckstein.

Soriano goes 3-6 with 2 HRs and a 2B in his debut.
Eckstein goes 4-6 with 2 doubles in his debut.
Owings lets in 1 run on 3 hits in his debut.

Okay, after this update:
14 HRs HIT BY PHOENIX IN SMACKDOWN
This included 4 dingers from both Alfonso Soriano and Takahiro Arai, who is basically a lock for Rookie of the Year.
The final score was 22-3, but it could have been higher if not for a great relief effort by Danys Baez, who went 3 innings and only allowed 1 run.

GONZALEZ OUT
Adrian Gonzalez has been the latest to be traded out of Phoenix, it is rumored that there was a growing argument between him and the front office about salary.

Indians get:
Adrian Gonzalez
Mark Redman
Mike Fontenot

Phoenix get:
Casey Kotchman
Clay Hensley
$20,000

that's a good trade there

Vlad playing CF? You should probably trade Ethier for a center fielder like BJ Upton.

yeah, but ethier's hitting .414 right now.
but i could trade for upton.
that trade was also to clear salary space (now i'm under the salary limit by about 1000.)

SORIANO IS HOT POST-TRADE
Alfonso Soriano, despite not being the main component in the deal, is looking like a fine andidate for MVp, although it will be hard to pass Aramis Ramirez.
He has hit 14 HRs the past 2 weeks, over twice as many as he had hit all season. This includes a 4 HR game yesterday and a couple of multi-HR games. Unsurprisingly, he has been named POTW the past two weeks, with around 16-18 RBIs and a BA around .550-.600.

PHOENIX RACK 32 ON RANGERS
The record for most runs scored in a game has been broken, coincidentally against the team that set it last year.
Matt Bellamy had 3 HRs, and Aramis, Soriano, and Kotchman added 2 each. Arai had a PH HR, and Ethier blasted one as well.
Lincecum and Hart combined to allow only 1 run on 7 hits.

SORIANO NAMED POTM
He had an incredible 20 HRs, 60 ribbies, and a .455 BA.

Aramis Ramirez, Alexei Ramirez, Carlos Ruiz, David Eckstein, Takahiro Arai (DH), and Alfonso Soriano led the balloting for their respective positions, while Guererro, Ethier, and Bellamy were also in the top 5 for OF.
Also, Adrian Gonzalez was first in balloting for 1B.

The annual MLB Draft has been completed, and the Phoenix are surprisingly happy with their pickups.
Stay tuned for updates this upcoming week.
