uggla for sanchez is a great trade, especially with your needs.

Pitsburg Pirates @ Tampa Bay Rays

This is expected to be a wonderful series. Tampa Bay is also a young team in the midst of being rebuilt, just like the Pirates. The only question on everybody's mind is, can the team that won a series against the Yankees use that momentum and go against one of the best contact making teams in the world? Also, there is probably going to be some big roster changes during this series, especially since that Sanchez-Uggla deal is still on the table. No word if it has been accepted or denied yet by either side.

Without further interruption, let me present to you the starting players for game one of this three game series!

On the Mound: John Van Benschoten and Scott Mathieson
Image

John Van Benschoten
--Decent topspeed
--Can be consistent
--Strikeouts a decent amount of batters with a good fastball

Scott Mathieson

--Not expected to go long
--Doesn't give up many runs

Tampa Bay Rays Lineup

1. Akinora Iwamura - 2B
2. Carl Crawford - LF
3. Carlos Pena - 1B
4. B.J. Upton - CF
5. Rocco Baldelli - RF
6. Evan Longoria - 3B
7. Dioner Navarro - C
8. Jason Bartlett - SS
9. Scott Mathieson - P

Pirates Lineup

1. Freddy Sanchez - 2B
2. Cody Ross - LF
3. Nate McLouth - RF
4. Xavier Nady - 1B
5. Austin Kearns - CF
6. Jose Bautista - SS
7. Ryan Zimmerman - 3B
8. Ronnie Paulino - C
9. John Van Benschoten - Pitcher

Yeah, the AI thinks they're getting a better trade because it was five stars, lol.

John Van Benschoten gives up a first pitch homerun to Carlos Pena; Nate McLouth respondes with a three run shot over centerfield!

John Van Benschoten was shaking in his cleets when Carlos Pena came upto bat and because of that he gave up a solo shot to right, which put the Rays ahead in the first! Then! Freddy Sanchez and Cody Ross got on base and Nate McLouth belted one over centerfield, putting the Pirates up 3-1.

John Van Benshoten settles down for second inning; retires three in arow. Zimmerman flies out to Upton at the warning track, Paulino grounds out. Van Benschoten gets double to right, drove in by Sanchez who hits triple to right-center!

The Pirates are already claiming dominance in this series. John Van has calmed down on the mound and is starting to get into a groove on the mound and the plate, Sanchez is hot, driving in John from second, and getting himself a triple! Two outs, bottom of the second, runner on third! Can Ross drive him home?

Ross drives Sanchez home with a ground rule double; McLouth drives Ross in as he doubles on a grounder to center. Nady hits his fifteenth of the year, bringing the Pirates up 8-1.

Pirates triumph over Rays in three game series; winning 2 games to 1. McLouth named series MVP, hitting two homeruns and driving in 5 RBIs, batting for a total of .527.

(I'll only cover game one.)

Pitching

John Van Benschoten

Had a wonderful game against the Marlins, pitching all nine innings, giving up five hits, two runs, and striking out nine. An excellent performance for a reliever, for sure.

Player of the Series

Nate McLouth

This guy is just a beast! He's always bettering himself when he needs to. This series, he did it with flying colors. He blasted three out of the park, drove in five runs, and lead the Pirates with a series average of .527!

Sanchez-Uggla deal goes through! Pirates bolster their offense, adding more homerun power to this lineup!

Andrew ReLink announced today that the Sanchez-Uggla deal finally went through. Pirates Fans are excited about the trade, saying it'll add more power to a lineup that really needs it. Marlin Fans, though, are pesimestic. After all, they did trade away the team leader in RBIs, homeruns, and average...

The Grady Little Press Confrence, trade coverage, improved lineup, and team statistics are coming up next! Remember, if you have any questions ask them or I'll have to make stuff up myself. <_<

Oh, and how is the log so far? This is my first not counting the Crusaders log that died because of a glitch. :(

Pirates recieve two trade requests; Tony Abreu for Great Suzuki from the Dodgers and from the Phillies Kyle Kendrick for Tom Gorzelanny!

Pirates management is puzzled. They do not know what to do and only have one day to respond to each trade!!!

No seriously, what should I do? Kyle Kendrick for Tom Gorzelanny seems pretty good, but I remember the last guy I tried to get from the Phillies... and Tony Abreu is a decent trade, since he's a patient hitter...

Pirates come to terms with Dodgers, ship Great Suzuki off for Tony Abreu. The Pirates have also declined a trade which would send star Gorzelanny off to the Phillies for struggling Kyle Kendrick (3-11).

The trade isn't that great, according to Andrew ReLink. He said it helps the defense of the team and really helps get rid of the crowding off outfielders they're experiencing right now. As for the Kendrick trade, he had this to say, "Why would I possibly accept a trade that would send on my best pitchers off for quite possibly the worst one in the league? Only a moron would do that."
