May 30-Fish aquire 2 lefties from ChiSox
The Fish have aquried lefties Boone Logan and Matt Thorton. The Marlin's were desperate for lefties as Tankerlsy and Rapada struggled and Hendrickson's ERA is over 5. They traded away 3B Dallas McPherson and SP Sergio Mitre. Rapada will be sent down to Triple-A Miami after struggling with ERAs over 9.

Logan had a 3.68 ERA with the Chicago White Sox

The flame-throwing lefty had a 3.50 ERA as a set-up to Jenks for the Sox

May 30- The fight for first
Marlins Vs Phillies
Image@Image

The story of this game is a story of 2 NL east rivals. One of them will fight for first as the other will play some catch-up. The Phillies are 2 games behind and have only 1 less win that us, the Marlins are tied with the Braves for the NL east. This is a close division with the Met's being in last with still only be 4.5 behind. Every game counts, the Marlin's are hoping to end this game with a win and a first spot in the east.

WHAT A GAME: MIRACLE IN EXTRAS!
This is what is said on the front page of the Marlin's tribune as the Marlin's made a great comeback versus the Phils. Trailing 6-0 in the 8th with 1 out, the Phillies sent in Eyre to pitch to Rabelo. Rabelo then hit his 3rd homeruns of the season into the left field seats. After Helms hit a dribbler to Feliz that he threw into right field for an error that opened up the flood gates off pitchers Scott Eyre and Brad Lidge on a 6-run inning that was capped off by a 2 out game tying 2 run blast in the 8th. In the bottom half with 2 out, Jason Werth hit his 7th homer against Henry Owens to put the Phils up 7-6 with 3 outs remaining for the Fish. Tom Gordon got 2 easy outs but fell behind 2-0 to Ramirez and one fastball later, he tied it with 2 outs on a blast to center field. The Phils got through Utley, Howard and Dobbs in the 9th to push it to extras. With 2 outs and 2 on, Beltre came up. He has yet to hit a homer for the 'Fish but sent Gordons 2-2 offering into the left field seats to give the Marlin's the lead. Lindstrom got the save but got it by allowing the tying run come to the plate. This is thought to have been the best game of the year for the Marlin's and maybe te best so far in the majors. The Brave's lost to the Reds 14-4 so for the first time this season, the Fish are in first!!

Also, we caught up with Beltre after the game

Reporter: So Adrian, what does it feel like to be the hero?
Beltre: Man its great, I was looking for a good pitcher to hit into the outfield but my inner talent kicked in and it left the seats. I'm glad to finally be able to contribute to the Marlins and hopefully this will keep on going.

And also Hanley was names POTM by hitting .447 with 7 homers

Fish cruise through May despite average finish
The Marlin's has another great month as the club went 16-12. As of now they are 31-24 this season and atop of the NL east. The Marlin's went 5-5 in their last 10 games and still had 16 wins. The team's May run was capped off my Hanley who is batting over .400 at this moment. Other notes will be that Rabelo will now be getting more starts as he excels. Rabelo has 3 homers in 49 at-bats while Baker has the same amount in around 100 more. Baker is batting only .267 as well. Hermida will most likely to be the guys to take over the number 2 whole despite a slow May. The Marlin's will play a game with Phillie to start the month but then will have an important 4 game series at Turner Field agains the suprise Braves. This is also the month of interleauge play where the Fish will play their annual Florida battle with the Rays. It's also draft month and the Marlin's will be looking at a future 3rd baseman, a catcher or pitching. But if another player catches their eye, they'll take him and convert him to another position if its a position thats taken.

Draft Day- Marlins choose 3rd baseman and pitcher

The Marlin's picked 19th and drafted 3B Halter and left-handed McMillan.
Their first pick was Halter, who is a lefty, but he doesn't show as much potential as McMillan. McMillan has a chance to start in the future.
