Honestly, I'm surprised to see how this section of the forum is beginning to go under, much like Government Motors (I know GM stands for General Motors) and other major corporations right now. Suffice to say, I'm partly to blame. I should have done more to keep this section alive with various logs like my Las Vegas Sinner's and the infamous "From the Pits to the Surface".

I can't restart any of those logs from where I left off (I wish I could, but I traded in MLBPP2009). There is good news though. Out of the Park Baseball X was released this week (!!) and I'm hooked. The historical replay is awesome. I have Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Joe Jackson, and Tris Speaker all on the same 1913 Boston Red Sox. Young should have been retired by now, but he keeps doing too well and my generous contracts still have the Hall of Famer-to-be pumping gas.

Anyway, in the next few hours, I'll throw something together which accurately depicts all of my moves thus far, including who won the World Series. For a little fun, I added the Wild Card race in 1908, which is one of the only major things that throw everything off.

Without further a due, I present to you the 1913 Boston Red Sox!

Looking at the Boston Red Sox/Americans Team History shows us that the team has had a dominant streak going, making the playoffs seven times and winning the World Series two. Two World Series Championships ties the Major League record at this point.

1907 is an interesting year... Boston's best prospect ever and current superstar, Ty Cobb kicked it up a notch. Let's just say this: without Cobb, most of what the Red Sox have accomplished would be impossible. Any player, who can hit in the upper .400s consistently, is going to help you out tremendously. Believe it or not, The Georgia Peach is not the only star in the Boston outfield! Cobb is a five time MVP Award winner in a row. He is the greatest ever at this point while only being 27. He also just signed an extension with the Red Sox, locking him in for six more years at nineteen thousand per year.

Tris Speaker and Joe "Shoeless" Jackson have done their parts equally well. They both have contributed to Boston's office, hitting above .300 every season and following Cobb very closely when it comes to RBIs. The two young guns have a chance at becoming Boston legends, alongside Cobb.

Those three alone make up the deadliest outfield to ever exist. Boston Management has dubbed them the three musketeers. Their ability to play for the team but lookout for each other at the same time is remarkable and inspiring. For generations to come people will talk about the greatest outfielders and they will be the first ones mentioned.

You've seen some of Boston's great first round picks, what about the other draft picks? Good question... most of them couldn't stand the hype. People like Joe Cassidy could never get it in gear after one good season and faded away from professional baseball, but I'll give you a glimpse anyway:

*B. Ruth is the Babe, of course. :)

That's pretty much it, basically. Babe Ruth is the number EIGHT pitching prospect for the Red Sox. Scouts predict him to be nothing more than a career minor leaguer, but with the legendary Vic Willis there to teach him, we (I) doubt it. If his pitching is a bust, he can always go fill the hole at first after being showed how to hit by Ty Cobb!

Currently, I'm in the midst of Winter Meetings. When I finalize my roster, I'll post again and do an in-depth analysis of our needs.

If it's a website I have to pay $40 dollars for and install onto my computer, yeah. It's a piece of a software. The developer has done a great job to give you an earthly feel about the game. Some of the pages give you a website-based feel like this one:

Spring Training is over and the rosters have been finalized. It's Heaven for baseball fans. They finally get to see that new prospect in action this year, or that aging veteran who can still give the younger guys a run for their money. Whatever or whoever your team picked up in the off-season is going to be scrutinized. If a player doesn't perform, they want him gone! If he does, they want him to sign a nice extension... anyway, the Red Sox released a final copy of their roster this morning. The most shocking thing on it is former pitching prospect Babe Ruth playing third base. In sixteen appearances in Spring Training, he had an ERA above five... his hitting was stupendous. The move makes sense and if his glove can keep up in the hot corner, everybody is going to be excited.

The only notable free agent signing on that list is "Laughing Larry" Doyle. He's going to be the backup second baseman for the Red Sox. However, if Kenworthy falls into a slump, or is injured, Doyle will take his place. He's a role-player at the moment. The other notable off-season pick up is former Pitcher of the Year Award winner, Mordecai Brown. This is his second stint with the Red Sox. In his last outing with them, he won the Pitcher of the Year Award. He's protected by many great, dominant pitchers in the Red Sox rotation. He should have no trouble winning another one.

Jack Tobin really has no place on the Major League Roster. He is probably going to be traded later this season for some bullpen help. Having Walter Johnson around never hurt anybody, right?

Overall, if you look at the Red Sox, they have a great outfield, a decent infield, and a lovable pitching staff. The combination of Roy Patterson, Mordecai Brown, Christy Matthewson and Oscar Jones (in that order) will be able to get the Red Sox many, many wins.

One final look at the Red Sox bullpen and lineup:

If you want to know how a certain player in this period is doing, just ask. I'll be more than happy to show you.

Roger Hornsby is in the draft. I want him. I don't need him. His bat would certainly help me win a World Series. Do you guys think I should go after him if he drops to my pick, or should I go for what I need and hope he drops to #32 overall?

Who else is in the draft that you might pick? That would alter my decision.

George Sisler, Chick Shorten, and Arht Nehf are the only ones I'd mention.

I got both! I traded an extra RF away for Hornsby, drafted Sisler and Shorten. :)
