I was just wondering what is everyone's favorite type of pitchers. Is it top speed, breaking ball, control, stamina, or a combination of the four? I making an arrange team and trying to find the best pitchers I should make.

YEAH!

BREAKING BALLS ALL THE WAY!

(I especially like "sinking" pitches, i.e., sinkers, H-SNK, SIFB, SPLT, and I also like the cutter)

I'm creating a pitcher with a sinker, a splitter, and a cutter...trying to reach +95 mph :D Umm but I do like breaking ball pitchers better, but stamina is really good. One quick question, what is the most effective way to throw a cutter?

Down and away. Backdoor or into the batter, missing the strike zone by a bit and you might get the call.
Stamina or Breaking Ball. In this game, you can get away with a 70mph fastball.

Sorry, but I kinda feel like the cutter is one of the most useless pitches in this game. The break on the pitch is not sharp enough to fool the CPU in striking out or upset their swing enough to induce outs. More often, they'll just readjust and crush it for a homer (when CPU batting is on powerful).

Regarding the original topic, I have to agree that breaking ball pitchers are my favorite too.

Success Mode: Palmball.
Season/Exhibition Mode: Curveball.

A good roundhouse curve is my favorite pitch, but the next time you make a pitcher in Success Mode, I suggest you start with a Palmball. It's affordable and batters are helpless against it, even in AAA when they start smashing curves, sliders, forks and just about everything else.

low-level cutters aren't very effective, but high levels (5,6,7) are great for jamming hitters and inducing huge numbers of ground balls.

I throw the cutter (and SLD, and H-SLD) low and in, the batter usually grounds it to second or fouls it off.

Palmballs are cool because of that small horizontal movement that can throw anybody off.

I also like the SCB, because I can strike out anybody with it.

I haven't created a 2008 pitcher in 8 months but I know that in '07 all it takes is a level 1 KN for almost every team.

i love the vertical slider, KN (who doesn't), and the 2SFB-SPLT combo.

Great mix of breaking balls, B control, and no higher then 83 MPH for a nice challenge that rather then relying on your players ability, relies on your knowledge of how to pitch. I edited a guy with lots of breaking balls and bad speed plus some negative abilities for a challenge.
