Question about technique/abilities training. How long does it take, and is it worth it? Are there any I should avoid?

I see stuff like good contact hitter, gold-glover, etc. in the training menu, and while I understand all the other training, I'm really lost in this. Can anyone give me a cliff notes version of how to use this and when? Thanks.

from my experiences, during the course of one season, the bar will fill up once.
it is nearly impossible for the player to gain said ability the first time, or even the second time.
in one team, i grouped a rookie with one of my created players (you want the more experienced player to lead), and by the time spring training ended, their friendship was yellow and the rookie had learned intimidator.

i usually wait until spring training to try to teach hitters new abilities (i teach pitchers new pitches usually), unless i convert the hitters. in spring training, you essentially get two tries at the ability, and you can always continue it into the season.
I, personally, train people who aren't close to any upgrades in their main stats (say, CON 6, POW 127, RUN SPD 8, ARM STR 8, FLD 10, TRJ 2)

any other questions?

Makes sense. That helps a lot.

I was going to use that on nearly an identical player, one that isn't close to any upgrade.

I noticed you mentioned the players in a relationship...does that help a lot for abilities?

if their friendship is yellow or red, it REALLY helps.
if it's still blue, then it doesn't make much difference, though it still speeds up the process.

A question if you press - on your remote when your on the practice screen, a bar appears next to each players name, and it says lvl. 1 by each practice.

1. What does the bar mean?

2. How do you raise the practice level.

the bar is the fatigue level of the player. The more blue is in the fatigue bar, the more fatigued the player is.
You can increase your level by purchasing training equipment from the shop. Win the World Series, and the "Platinum Ring" will become available, it gives you +1 level to everything.

I also have a question.
How do you find out the friendship between two specific people?

First, you have to group them up in practice, and then:

Blue=Not so good, getting to know each other OK.
Yellow=Getting better, getting to know each other well.
Pink=Best, getting to know each other really well.

Yeah, i knew that, but can it still help if you put a group in techniques, and try to have one teach the other a technique it DOESN'T know. Ex. Drew and Bay are trying to learn intimidator together but neither of them have it. A question i have had for a little while, thanx to anyone who can answer.

they can still both learn it, but at different times probably

your best bet is to have someone that knows it like Ortiz and then put Drew and Bay in that group and maybe Ortiz the leader because he knows intimdator

alright, i do that, but sometimes i want for example "push hitter" on my team. But nobody has it so i group 2 people up, even though neither have it.
Thanks for the help
