Washington Press

Opening Day Huge Success Again!

The Washington Nationals are not going to go 0-162, that is something we sure know. President Obama threw out the ceremonial 1st pitch. CC Sabathia, the very skinny pitcher we acquired in the offseason was going to pitch. He pitched and batted brilliantly. He had a complete game, striking out 14 and even had 2 RBI's. This is going to be a great season for the Nationals as they look to go one level higher this time.

Nationals 5-1 Braves
Win - Sabathia (1-0)
Lose - Carmona (0-1)

1) Milledge RF 2-5 2B RBI 2K .400
2) Saipe SS 0-5 .000
3) Zimmerman 3B 1-4 R 2B K .250
4) N.Johnson 1B 3-4 2B RBI .250
5) Bay LF 1-3 2R BB K SB .333
6) Paulino C 1-4 RBI .250
7) Belliard 2B 3-4 2B R .750
8) Dukes CF 1-3 R 2K .333
9) Sabathia P 1-3 2RBI SF DP .333

Sabathia (W) 9 IP 4 H 14 SO 1 ER 1 HR 1.00 ERA

@LB lvl 4 changeup for Sabathia

On the topic of Matt Morris . . . is he really that good in this game? In expansion mode, I signed FA's Chuck James and Hideo Nomo but avoided Matt Morris because of the red abilities. Plus . . . it's Matt Morris! He's resides in the same realm as Russ Ortiz and Sidney Ponson, guys who continue to get jobs pitching despite being unbelievably terrible at pitching.

I just sign him and then immediately trade him away. :) He's too expensive (9500) for me.

Usually I package him with Chuck James and somebody else (plus some points) to the Pirates for Paul Maholm and Zack Duke. Sometimes, I trade Morris, my catcher and/or first baseman, and some points, to the Diamondbacks for Haren, Conor Jackson, and Chris Snyder.

While we wait for the latest Nats update, allow me to share the details of my Matt Morris trade last night (^ thanks for the tip, Longball)

Pittsburgh Pirates received:
Matt Morris
Chuck James
Tomas Perez

Portland Blue Sox received:
Zach Duke
Paul Maholm
Freddy Sanchez
Cash ($5,864)

I almost feel like I cheated . . . but sheesh, my pitching staff has been getting killed so it's all good.

thats incredible. 3 free agents for 3 very good players, Matt Morris isn't even that good, Perez is old and James seems to simulate terribly

Not to mention the $5,864, which is actually $5,864,000. Like I said, I feel kind of dirty. I also traded one of my useless AAA relievers for Fernando Cabrera and about $500 cash. Cabrera instantly became is my new closer . . . but this isn't my log!

Kick me in the NATS already! My client, Elijah Dukes, is ready to roll.

Yeah, unfortunately the trade logic in this game is very poor. Usually you can easily rob someone.

DANG! steal. The Pirates are maybe the easiest team to rip of.

I gave them a 1B and a crappy pitcher from Mclouth and Adam Laroche

I guess the key is to exercise restraint if you want a more realistic experience. On the other hand, getting the Pirates and Astros to bend over is pretty realistic, so . . . GO NATS!!!

If you do use him, can I be his agent?
