New General Manager has been decided for the Nationals
Shocking news, a new general manager has been decided for the Washington Nationals. After finishing close to dead last in the 2007 season, Buck Johnson, a graduate from Stanford has been apointed general manager. It has been said that Johnson had a PhD in Law and played baseball at Stanford. He was the starting catcher, but injury has caused him to conclude his baseball career.

"This year, change is going to come to the Washington Nationals. A new stadium, new president and a new era. I promise that the Washington Nationals are no longer going to finish last in the NL East. Though the Braves, Mets, Phillies and Marlins have historically beaten us, this year is going to be new. I have already talked to a few free agents and they have agreed to help our pitching rotation. Chuck James has signed for 390,000 and will be in the starting rotation. Matt Morris has signed a 1 year 9,500,000 million contract, he is going to be our staff ace.

This is my planned starting lineup:
1) C.Guzman SS
2) Milledge CF
3) Zimmerman 3B
4) N.Johnson 1B
5) Kearns RF
6) Estrada C
7) Belliard 3B
8) Dukes LF

This is my planned starting rotation:
1) Morris
2) James
3) S.Hill
4) Chico
5) O.Perez
6) Lannan

Yes, I'll be using a 6 man rotation.

C.Cordero is the closer. Thank you, that will be all. See you tomorrow."

Why is a 6-man rotation so controversial?

Hmm, I'll think about it.

Will Lannan be happy if he is the swing man?

No big deal. He thinks that you should practice him to become a great starter

Also when I said 5 man rotation I was thinking that players would get more starts but they would get the same amount with a 6 man rotation so never mind

My client, Elijah Dukes, is dissatisfied with his spot in the current batting order and has threatened to break Johnny Estrada's throwing arm. I'm sure he was just kidding. *cough*

Opening Day Huge Success!

The Washington Nationals are not going to go 0-162, that is something we sure know. President Bush threw out the ceremonial 1st pitch. Matt Morris threw the 1st pitch of the game, a 85 mph sinking fastball, which was called a ball. He retired the 1st batter Kelly Johnson for the 1st ever out recorded at the new stadium. On a full count with 2 outs, Nick Johnson hit a liner into right center for the 1st ever run. Zimmerman hit the go ahead sac fly in the 8th and Kearns drove in one more run. Matt Morris pitched 8 incredible innings, but left in the 9th with elbow problems, Cordero closed the door for a magical night. Here is the Box Score.

Nationals 3-1 Braves
Win - Morris (1-0)
Lose - Smoltz (0-1)
Save - Cordero (1)

1) C.Guzman SS 2-4 2B R K .500
2) Milledge CF 2-4 2B 2R .500
3) Zimmerman 3B 0-3 RBI SF .000
4) N.Johnson 1B 3-4 2B RBI .750
5) Kearns RF 2-4 2B RBI DP .500
6) Estrada C 1-3 SH .333
7) Belliard 3B 0-4 .000
8) Dukes LF 1-3 .333
9) Morris P 2-3 .667
C.Cordero 0-0

Morris (W) 8 IP 7 H 9 SO 1 ER 1.13 ERA
C.Cordero (SV) 1 IP 1 SO 0.00 ERA

Morris is fine, but will be on day to day. He should pitch his next start.
