Just curious...

Anyone know which factors determine All-Star game selection?

One of my players, Ryan Braun, has played fewer games than many other starters, but is near the top of the league in batting average, home runs, and OPS--yet, doesn't seem to be receiving any votes for selection. David Ortiz, whom is also on my team, is platooning at first (and has much more average numbers), but is near the top in votes! What gives?! Is the "star" ability the cause or are there other factors contributing to this?

Star helps alot, one of my success guys had twice the stats of pujols last year, but Pujols got a few million more votes.

I have noticed the Star ability has a huge affect on popularity.

As a note...

I finally reached the All-Star game and noticed that Ryan Braun was selected, albeit as a backup. So, obviously, stats DO count but being a "star" and putting up decent numbers still count for more. I guess it's just like real life, right??

Does the star ability make a difference when it comes to coach selection?

Not sure about that one but it seems to me that the coach just picks the runners up in the voting at each position. Can anyone disprove this?

Is it possible to view an extended list of top voted players for each position?

I don't remember exactly, but I want to say the AS voting only shows the top three players per position and maybe four or five outfielders? As I mentioned on the first post, Ryan Braun was nowhere to be seen on any of those votes, but all of the sudden, ends up on the AS team. Perhaps the final vote and the games leading up to the actual game is tentative?

No, that's not true. On a team full of success moderookies last year having amazing years, only 2 made it in (outfield, I almost got crawford also in there). However, several players were put in my coaches who apparently didn't have a single vote.
