(2-0) Eagles vs Angels (0-2): ALDS Game 3

Down 2 so far, the Angels' plan was to come back out in Game 3 and take the lead early. Albert Pujols homered to do just that in the first. Mike Olt brought it back for the Eagles with a two-run shot just one inning after, only to be followed by Ryan Zimmerman who did the same in the 4th to push the lead to 3. The 5th came around, and Chris Iannetta and Rick Ankiel drove in runners Utley and Frazier to cut the deficit down to 1. Manny Machado chipped in with his first homer of the postseason in NJ's half of the 5th to extend it back to 2, and Barry Enright was taken out for Ernesto Frieri. Clayton Kershaw held strong for the Eagles for the rest of it, and with the complete game, his team had swept out Los Angeles.

Player of the Game: Kershaw (CG, 3-run outing) + Olt (Go-ahead 2-R HR in 2nd)

Final Score:
Eagles: 5
Angels: 3

W - Kershaw (1-0)| L - Enright (0-1)
HR: Machado (1), Zimmerman (1), Olt (1), Pujols (1)

Yes, sir. I'm hoping to get more out this weekend. I'm in progress in LCS Game 1 but it took me a while to get all the LDS games out, so the LCS should be done in the next week as long as I get back to playing.

2016 LCS Preview

Image

Only 4 teams were lucky enough to have made their way onto the League Championship Series. Two teams from the NL and two teams from the AL will clash for the final two spots on the big stage, the 2016 Fall Classic. Let's check out who's competing to move towards the next step for a shot at championship glory.
------------------------------------------------------
Image

ImageVS Image

New Jersey topped the majors with 117 wins and 45 losses, while Cleveland was the 6th-best at 93-69. NJ were victorious in 4 of their 6 contests against the Indians so this matchup is clearly in their favor. The Eagles swept out the Angels 3-0 while Cleveland is coming off a 3-1 series win against Oakland.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Image

ImageVS Image

Division rivals will duke it out here as both the Dodgers and Padres were able to pull of 3-2 series wins over the Phillies and Pirates, respectively. Los Angeles, the NL West champion, were 94-68. The NL Wild Card winner San Diego trailed them by just 3 games with a 91-71 record. The Dodgers ranked 4th in the majors while the Padres ranked 7th. When head-to-head, the teams were matched at 11 wins apiece.

(0-0) Eagles vs Indians (0-0): ALCS Game 1

For the first six innings of Game 1, the Indians were being pummeled as starter Ubaldo Jimenez could not stop the early barrage of offense by the Eagles. Blake Carter was predominantly the reason for it as he hit 3 homeruns - the first being a 3-run bomb in the 1st, the second being a solo shot in the 3rd, and the third being a 2-run homer in the 5th - all of which totaled to a 6-0 lead. Ryan Zimmerman tacked onto it with a homer of his own off of reliever Joe Smith in the 6th. Cliff Lee had no blips (with 7 runs of support behind him) over 7 innings. He then ran into trouble in the 8th, allowing an RBI double to Jason Kipnis and a three-run dinger to Russ Canzler. Sean Haynes stepped in and was able to avoid any more than one run, which came on a Shin-Soo Choo RBI 2B in the 9th. Although NJ was close to blowing their huge lead, they managed to take this first game against Cleveland.

Player of the Game: C.Lee - Winning pitcher

(1-0) Eagles vs Indians (0-1): ALCS Game 2

Game two remained scoreless with starters Andrew Brooks and Justin Masterson (1.50 ERA) dueling and not many signs of either offense having a run cross the plate. Joakim Soria took Brooks' place in the 8th with bases loaded and managed to retire Russ Canzler, Casey Kotchman, and Lou Marson all in order. Chris Resop (97/C/E, 2.08 ERA) was brought in for a tired Masterson in the 9th and did not allow a run, sending the game to extra innings. Manager Nick Puleo made the regrettable decision to leave the weary Soria (who's not used to going more than an inning) in the game with 2 outs in the 10th. It backfired as Jason Kipnis smacked a single and a wild pitch allowed him to advance to 2nd. Canzler plated him with a single to break the tie and Chris Price tried to stop it at that. He did so by getting Kotchman to flyout. Unfortunately, closer Rafael Perez shut down the Eagles in their half of the 10th to tie the series up at 1-1. In comparison to yesterday, NJ was disappointing in the hits department. But as we know, they can burst out at any time to assure themselves the series lead.

Player of the Game: R.Perez - Got the save in the 10th + Canzler - Knocked home the game-winning RBI in extras

Final Score:
Eagles: 0
Indians: 1
