Post subject:  Defensive substitutions

I noticed this while playing the other day. I'm using an NL team now for the first time. I'm starting a 3B who's good in the field but has a weak bat, and a 1B who can hit, and can also play third. I've got a 1B on the bench that I want to use as a pinch hitter for the pitchers. Does anyone know if you're able to bring in a pinch hitter for a pitcher, then shift him to first, take my first baseman and shift him over to 3rd, and bring in the next pitcher? What I can't seem to get is how to shift the position of players who are already on the field(?) I see the CPU do this all the time, but when I go into 'defensive substitutions', when I choose my first baseman, it forces me to choose someone from the bench instead of swapping him with someone on the field. When I choose someone from the bench, my starting first baseman disappears and I can't use him for the rest of the game. This should be possible should it not?

Select one players position in defensive alignment or something like that then swap positions with the other player by selecting his position.

Here's what to do:
1. Put the pinch guy at first and the first baseman at P (Swap little positon thing, not whole name bar)
2. Put "Pitcher" or your first basemen, at third. Same way as above.
3. Put the new pitcher in. The three guys will have new spots in the order, but thats it.
For the record, this is called a double or (I guess) triple switch.
