Out of all the F/A at the beginning, who did you take to help improve your team?

I took Dan Johnson (1B), Great White (2B/CF), and Chuck James (LHP). Later in the month, my starting pitchers were getting really tired and fatigued, so I got Hideo Nomo who was surprisingly still a F/A and he's relieved so much fatigue for my team.

I got, Hernandez (good curve, young) then I might have gotten Justin Ruggiano or Angel Chavez to devolop. The Chuck James. I was very disappointed in him. What happened was that he was doing horrible, so I ended up trading him, for a more relible pitcher.

I usually pick up Nomo, not the best swing man/long reliever, but he saves a ton of stamina for mid relievers and such.

Nomo tends to retire right after the first year in MLB Life or Season Mode when I sim.

I've been having problems with my starters not going deep and then the opposing team beating up my bullpen, so having two pitchers with B stamina (James and Nomo) who I can send down or call up as I please is a nice thing to have.

Yea Plus James is only 26 and so he hasn't reached his prime. He's also helpful in the bullpen with his alright control.

sorry for bumping this thread but I like to pick up Matt Morris and trade him for Paul Maholm :) I get a top quality starter for free. You can get Ryan Howard for free too (Dan Johnson trade for Conor Jackson trade for Ryan Howard) and you can get Joba for free (Hideo Nomo trade for Joba Chamberlain)

The consensus is that Nomo seems to be a good player to own whether you want to use him as an extra starter/long reliever or as trade bait for another player. Playing in "Powerful" mode, he's one of those soft-throwing, movement pitchers (like Tim Wakefield or Jamie Moyer) who's either pitching a shut out or giving up 6 runs in one inning, so use with caution.

I really like Dan Johnson a lot too. He's a solid first basemen with decent power (149?) and trajectory (3), so he'll be good for a few home runs. I've had good success using him as a backup to my starting first basemen or as a pinch hitter.

One player I regret not keeping (because I traded him early on) was Tomas Perez. His salary falls around the 600 point range and he can play all the infield positions (except 1B). His character qualities are fairly decent too. Guys like this are extremely valuable on the bench because one player can fill the role of three, therefore freeing up more spots on your 25 man roster for other players.

I dont usually pick up FA, but I once found Pujols in the FA in the middle of the season, and I picked him up. He won MVP and Hank Arron Award.

Pujols was a free agent
Well once in 2014 I found Bj Ryan as a free agent and he went on to be my closer with a 2.13 ERA. His stats were low because of his age but he was still pretty good

True to real life I picked up Teixeira after the 2008 season. Got him for 10000 per season, which after dumping Giambi actually saved some cash overall.

Oh to add on, I think Pujols was in the FA because he was in the Braves and Texeria beat him to the starting lineup, go go Tex for kicking Pujols' ass.

I got Teixeira to a 5 year deal at 750 a season!!! What the crap!!! And that spring training I turned him into a center fielder since I already had Ryan Howard.
