They probably had won more games against you than you had against them.

Or that the programed umpire grew emotions, now hates you, and wants to eat you and your children (if you have any.) But, the former's more likely.

  • Off season where you have to advance the schedule turn after turn doing nothing. Horrible load times at least on PS2.
  • Awards not having authentic names.

YES..... Put something there please, or at least allow us to skip it, along with preseason.

try not to bump month old topics, chee. you've done that a lot lately.

anyways, i hate the contract renewals system, but what I'm surprised hasn't been said is that on the draft screen (rookie draft), all the first players (and catchers) suck.
which means no good 1B, 2B, or LF.

I HATE how spring training practices last for 2 days, i think you should be able to do drills or something in the off season, so you improve your skills while improving player stats.....for CNTL do the pitching practice and hit the square for x amount of points to level up, for Top SPD/ Arm Str do long toss, BP etc.....

I thought this thread was dead but anyway: I disagree with how people think nothing happens in the offseason/preseason.

You can use the time in January to make a couple of trades before spring training starts. This way you have the full benefit of spring training for a new acquisition to learn a new position or pitch. This wouldn't matter if you bought the practice item to do that in-season, but the cost doesn't seem worthwhile.

The exhibition games in March are to practice with any new players, either a free agent you signed or somebody you traded for in January. I find this useful if it's a pitcher with an unfamiliar pitch arsenal. You can also see your young players in action who have no MLB experience without sacrificing their rookie status for that year, if you care about winning rookie awards.

In the 2007 game, you couldn't change CPU settings for baserunning/fielding/pitching/hitting once the regular season starts. The only thing you can change is CPU batting normal/lock-on. So you can play the exhibition games with different settings to get a feel for them and be able to choose the right combination. I believe I've read that this restriction doesn't exist in the 2008 game.
