I' ve seen created teams made up of 2008 Success Mode players, and there are people who can get a player to get all A's in skill (see Johnny McMillon on the Honolulu Hornets). My question is: Is there a secret to all this besides just practicing? Also, which upgrade is the best for hitters and pitchers?

There are many ways...

Gambling rings are a must you can get them in surprise bags but they take long to find. (You can get Surprise bags from the detective. Gambling rings let you gamble for abilites even if you don't have enough exp points

Also many people here Save and load for each practice to get 5 okay's.

They also take up arcs like sittchs and Franks to get abilities and original pitches.

There is also a sports doctor, Doctor Goodjob who can either make or break a player. If you are lucky enough to find him in a random event you will have a chance for an operation you can either succeed and make your player great or fail and lose many stats that you worked hard to get.

Also there is an abiltiy called good sense that makes the cost of stats go down.

You should also buy waxes and equipment.

You dont need Dr Goodjob, I didn't get Goodjob to max out my player. Buy Spike Wax. Speed is the hardest to max out. Get around decent stats at the start. 2 TRJ, 40-50 PWR, 1-4 CON, 3-4 Spd, Arm, FLD and ERR. Do Sittch's Arc, gets alot of mentality points. Play well against the Wild Jokers in the last game of AA. I got power hitter, Clutch 4, and Firstball hitter just from that game, not including abou 30 of each experience points except for mentality. Streakhouse is very important to max out power. Gets 10-25 (max) power from legendary beef, you can get a suprise bag too and alot of money.

Yah - from creating 30 or so players so far, the best way to really max a guy out is to perform well in games, save/reload to avoid negatives (bad games/missing games, injuries, negative events/conditions, etc), and just make the most of every opportunity. Think of every week as precious and spend it doing on the best things, and save only when it's gone perfectly.

Gambling ring is really a necessity to max out a guy. You could probably max a guy with just recovery necklace, constant carryover chocolates, and just saving/reloading for best game results. Practice, boost, gamble, repeat. Throw in the arcs - Frank, Sittch, steak house - and you're pretty much unstoppable.

There are guides around here on how to make all-As type of guys - it's honestly kind of easy/boring at this point. I'd rather go thru with no save/loading and keep what I get. Lot more interesting, AND saves weeks of my life that save/loading would take up. :) And then, when you get that oddball pitcher with B or C hitting power...well, its that much more precious. :)

If you want to, you should save every week to make sure nothing bad happens.

I save every few weeks and only reload when something bad happens injury, bad goodjob surgery, or Game Over.

oh snap thats my guy :jump2:

I made him a while ago, so the specifics are fuzzy, but what i do is reload for decent stats, while doing franks and siitchs arc. Also S/L to do well in games, I also trained with him using candies i believe, and also S/L for Jaw to S/L to successfully to the job to get a surprise bag to S/L to get a gambler's ring, and S/L with that to gamble on stats/abilities. I may have also S/L for a good job once or twice. I think it took me about a week, or over a day playing time to make him.
